Fauda Season 3 - High quality action meets emotional turmoil !
ASHOK’s FIVE reasons to watch “FAUDA” Season 3 now streaming
on Netflix. In Arabic, Fauda means “chaos” and this series is a fascinating
take on the Israel-Palestinian conflict. Albeit a completely one-sided take on
the issue, the series stands out for how well the violence is blended with poignant
emotion. In Season 3, Doron (Lior Raz) goes undercover to chase a Hamas militant
and in the process gets Bashar, a young Palestinian into trouble. How the Israeli
crack unit manages to enter the Gaza strip and evacuate the captives is the
plot. This is a high stakes action thriller and the lead character Doron
Kabilio is well on his way to the top of the popularity charts in India.
1.
Watch “Fauda” to see action sequences at its slickest
best. The thrill and anticipation of a dark, unmarked car with its headlights
dimmed and pulling out of a parking lot or the nail-biting tension as the leads
make their way into occupied territory and risk being discovered make for the
perfect build-up to the actual gun battles. The stocky, pudgy Lior Raz, dressed
in his trademark black tee and unleashing his daredevilry is now the trademark
style of the show.
2.
Director Roten Shamir and co-creators Lior Raj
and Avi Issachhroff manage to create poignant moments of emotional conflict.
Doron is now separated from his wife and has to visit his children under
supervision. Avi, the sniper, shoots one of his own team in a moment of excitement
and becomes a mental wreck. Season 3 in that sense marks the maturity that the
earlier seasons missed.
3.
Marina Maximillian as Hila the operative manning
the Gaza desk is a fresh introduction and engages the audiences very well. She
and Doron get into a relationship and this adds to the complexity of things.
4.
Fauda has dialogues that are Hebrew / Arabic in its
original form, and it is fascinating to see how some of these Middle East
conflict shows are now gaining currency across the English-speaking world.
Needless to say, the story is told from the Israeli point of view and the
context of conflict is not the key; the brilliance of the lead characters and
their emotional turmoil is what is central to the theme.
5.
Another highlight of the show is the casting and
the characters of the Israeli crack unit – from Gabi the captain to Doron
himself, Avihai, Steve, Sagi, Nurit and Eli – each of them is unique but bound
by the common goal and keep backing each other up. The Israeli dominance in
areas of counter surveillance, drone-based tracking, high-end satellite phones
and super-efficient evacuation teams is what stands out in Fauda.
Fauda Season 3 is easily the best so far with the team
actually entering the Gaza strip and the level of thrill, tension and danger
rise up many levels. The manner in which the counter-terrorism professionals manage
their assignments with razor sharp precision is what makes for fantastic
viewing, amidst all the sophisticated weaponry and the eastern milieu of the
region.
